Day 2 Recap
It has been a great Sunday here in the Dominican Republic--everyone is doing really well. Our team got great rest last night and was ready to go this morning. During our trip, we are divided up into two mission teams. One team is serving Pastor Yorbi Silverio at Iglesia Bautista de la Caimitio. We served with the same church 3 years ago and it is a blessing to see familiar faces and partner together. Our other team is serving with Pastor Gary Byrd and Abundant Life Baptist Church. We have loved getting to know Pastor Gary and his family and look forward to this new partnership!
Today we had the privilege of worshipping with both of our church partners. What a blessing to worship the same Savior in two languages. Zakk has the opportunity to deliver a sermon with the help of Pastor Gary who translated. He did a great job coming out of James 2.
After lunch at our churches--which was delicious--we joined Pastor Yorbi's church at 3pm for an afternoon service where we worshipped together and Bart spoke about how we are all called to be servants.
This evening we did worship as a team and a debrief of today's ministry. Students shared one word about how they were impacted by today and then shared why they were feeling that way. Students shared about the joy they were finding in partnering with the churches, the welcome they have felt here, and the opportunities that lie ahead to share the Gospel. We have all felt ministered to by the believers here even more than we have ministered.
Tomorrow we will have a really full day of VBS and construction projects...I will probably not have a chance to update everyone until late tomorrow night. Thanks for following our trip and please continue to pray for our team.
