Day 3 Recap
Whew, what a whirlwind of a day it has been. We have been busy with our first full day of VBS and work projects with both church partners.
Pastor Gary's team began their day with VBS. Students prepared crafts, a bible story, songs, and games. It was great to see our students leading and using their gifts to serve the church and sharing the love of Christ with the children there. In the afternoon, the team worked hard moving cinderblock (about 600 total), water, and cement to an upstairs classroom they are helping build. The teamwork was amazing as they built an assembly line of students passing materials.
Pastor Yorbi's team began their day by digging up concrete posts that needed to be moved to build a classroom structure at the church. We also painted the roof of the church and some metal beams they were building with. In the afternoon, we walked over to a local community center to do VBS with the kids. Again, our students did an awesome job leading bible story, crafts, music, and games. Many of the kids came three years ago when we served at the same church and we met many more kids who came for the first time.
In the evening, Pastor Yorbi's team participated in a evangelistic outreach service. Jason Koon and Aaron White shared their testimony during the service. They both had great messages about growing in their faith through changing their priorities, reading the Word throughout the week, and accountability.
The people of the Dominican Republic have been such a blessing to us as well. They are so hospitable and open to us. They also share a love for Jesus and His Church and to see their community changed through the Gospel!
Well, time for some sleep, but here are some pictures from the day.
