Hurricane Helene Disaster Response

Having a living faith means that we are committed to loving the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, our church family mobilized to address individual and community needs in the Midlands and beyond. We appreciate everyone’s efforts who are supporting our response, whether it be through the giving of your time, finances, or donations.

For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

James 2:26
Living Faith – Riverland Hills Baptist Church Hurricane Helene Response

Dr. Ryan Pack, Senior Pastor
Riverland Hills Baptist Church
October 4, 2024

Hurricane Helene devastated communities across the southeast. Our hearts are with those who lost loved ones, livelihoods, and homes.

In the aftermath of the storm, our church family has cared care for family, neighbors, and the local community impacted by the hurricane.

In addition to this vital ministry, we have extended this outreach to those struggling with the devastation in Western North Carolina. By partnering with SBC Disaster Relief, and in cooperation with First Baptist Church Hendersonville, we are actively supporting distribution efforts to those in need in the Western North Carolina region.

The response by our church family, the broader Southern Baptist family, other local churches, and our community at large has been astounding. We are so grateful for everyone who donated, volunteered, and shared. We praise the Lord for His work!

Because of an abundance of generosity, we filled an entire 53-foot trailer with non-perishable food items, toiletries, diapers, and baby wipes.

We are grateful for community partnerships that aided in the collection efforts– Irmo Lowe’s Home Improvement donated 400 boxes to pack items, and Southeastern Freight Lines contributed the trailer and the transport of all items to Hendersonville.

We’d also like to thank the many local churches that contributed to our collection efforts. These churches include: First Baptist Church Irmo, Three Rivers Baptist Church, Lake Murray Baptist Church, Pineview Baptist Church, and State Street Baptist Church. We praise God for the coalition of churches in the Midlands addressing needs here in South Carolina and beyond.

We at Riverland Hills continue to make strides to reach the world for Christ by equipping disciples to live out their faith: everyone, everywhere, every day, and we pray that God blesses these supplies and the people who receive them.

SBC Disaster Relief

Southern Baptist Disaster Relief units deploy in times of crisis to be the hands and feet of Jesus in hurting communities. These teams provide assistance including distributing hot meals and helping families clean up after a storm. Recently, teams deployed across the southeast to help respond to Hurricane Helene– sending food distribution teams, shower units, mud out teams, and chainsaw units.
